Domino's Project sketches

The "Upcycle" project: Domino's asked 10 artists from around the country to take materials with their old logo and turn it into art. The idea is to transform everyday marketing and work products (pizza boxes, shirts, signs, paper products and signage) into the personal art of the selected artists. These works will be for sale and be promoted by Domino's on their social media platforms. The images above are of the Sketches for the Domino's project, these may appear as pieces or may be amended. They will definitely inform the work as it is being constructed. More images will appear as the materials begin to be used and art is made!

Princesa

The piece is a linocut from a series of 12 that I have submitted for a traveling printmaking exhibition. So far there are two destinations, New York City and San Francisco. It is a portrait of my youngest daughter, looking doe eyed and struggling to stand. The piece is called, "Princesa."

Beyond the edges

Viennese artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser has created an interesting piece that extends beyond the boundaries...he often includes the color palette layout on the edges of the picture plane, these practical elements are balanced and included in the overall design...they act as a decorative element and tie in nicely with the overall decorative qualities of the piece...

The central image or face, is off center and balanced by the landscape on the right hand side...asymmetry forces the viewer to reconcile the picture plane and creates interest...Hundertwasser uses intense colors schemes in flat, horizontal layers...this combination adds to the decorative nature of his work. The house forms and landscape utilizes concentric lines to create texture and interest, used all over the picture plane to unify the piece.
